Imperial College London interview for 2027 entry
Most Imperial departments interview applicants who show potential in their UCAS application and in an admissions test. Interviews usually take place between November and February.
Checked on 31 October 2026 against: Imperial undergraduate interviews, Imperial deadlines and Imperial admissions tests. Elysian is not connected to Imperial College London, and a department can change its process, so your invitation is the final word.
Who is interviewed, and how you hear
Imperial interviews applicants who demonstrate potential in their UCAS application and in an admissions test, where the course uses one. Admissions test scores are read alongside your personal statement when Imperial decides whether to invite you to interview or make an offer. The department you applied to emails the address on your UCAS application, so check that inbox and reply promptly.
Interview format
The format depends on the department. Imperial describes two common shapes:
- A panel interview, typically with one or two people from the department.
- A recruitment day, which can include a group task, a discussion or a written test.
You may be offered a virtual or an in-person interview, depending on your circumstances and the course. The department tells you which, and whether you can attend online. MBBS/BSc Medicine uses Multiple Mini Interviews, described on the Faculty of Medicine website.

Check each date on Imperial's deadlines page before you plan around it.
How to prepare
Imperial's own advice is to re-read your personal statement, because follow-up questions come from what you wrote. It also suggests attending a school mock interview if one is offered, practising clear and concise answers, arriving early, preparing your own questions and keeping your invitation to hand. There is no formal dress code.
The interviewer is looking at how you reason, so practise saying your thinking aloud on problems from your course subject. One-to-one practice with a subject tutor is one way to do that. Request a match, name Imperial and your course, and we propose a tutor. Elysian provides tutoring and does not write personal statements. See pricing.
